The statues at Crosby beach in England are hauntingly beautiful. Called Another Place and sculpted by Anthony Gormley.
When you first hear about them like me you probably thought what vanity by the artist to cast himself as a sculpture and then place 100 copies all over a beach in north England. You soon change your mind when you see them.
They project a resolute peace and determination, their nakedness only adds to the sense of purpose.
I was glad to have seen them and to photograph them . For the gear heads out there no i didnt use any professional gear just and olympus ep-1 with a 30mm pancake and all shot on auto. I just framed the shots and used the cameras weaknesses and strengths to get the shots i wanted.
I finding more and more these days , i just want to take shots not get a heavy work out so for little trips and holidays the big bad nikons will get left and home and the ep-1 will be coming along instead.
keep shooting

jennifer rises from the dark
This is part of a new project to create a book for jennifer.
The model herself is lit only using one video light off centre and above. The video light creates the hard shadows and the sudden drop offs that flash just doesnt do.
This was all shot on location using a d700 on high iso to add noise to the image.
The image was processed using cs5 and silver efex to give the selinium toning and the b&W conversion.
I love the way the subject just pops out of the dark and is seeming to just appear. There is an alluring appeal that promises dark delights
